I also also have a 626D DVD player and I could obtain VCD not so bad. The main point is, before encoding from avi to mpeg, to capture the video with a very high bitrate and a resolution as close to the final mpeg resolution as possible i.e. 352x288 for PAL VCD. This way the mpeg encoding software (TMPGEnc for exemple) will give you a nice rendering. Try it! I tried to make XVCD but I wasn't successful, can you tell me how to do? Fabrice. (Marseille.
